Katie Munro

I’m loving the work of Katie Munro, a New Zealand based artist/illustrator that I recently discovered.

Their work is a fantastic combination of minimalist graphics, immensely detail hand drawings and clever use of white space. I’m a terrible realistic sketcher so I’m always so impressed when artists and designers are capable of making work, especially when it’s human or animal, look like the image would lift off the page and Katie Munro’s work is so great at that.

I also love Munro’s work that depicts lesser represented body types. Their work celebrates all the curves, bones and stretch marks that make up a completely natural body, I love that and wish we saw more of that in the world.

Munro’s use of colour in their work is also just so wonderfully executed. From combinations of lemon and mustard yellows to simple watercolour-esque swipes of pinks and blues, the effect is very light touch and simple but incredibly effective.

Now I just need a restock of the Katie Munro Etsy shop!!
