Yvonne Mouser is a recent discovery for me and I couldn't wait to share the work of this talented artist and designer.
Mouser explores the relationship of art and design and the result is work that is functional and beautiful while also taking on this amazing opportunity for narrative. Her stools for example, are fully functioning stools or benches but with the addition of the handle they become an item that travels easily. These pieces then work their way into various settings which wouldn't be feasible of a typical stool.
Her artwork also consisting of wood material is constructed in a way that her building knowledge is quite evident but the details, scale and delicacy of the work help it take on a sculptural identity.
Mouser's work has created a tremendously diverse portfolio of work which continues to blur the lines of art and design. I look forward to seeing where her work takes us next.
